Miss Jaimie created a flannel board made from felt for children to match cake flavors, frosting and cupcake liners. She used a coloring page of a cupcake to trace out the different pieces. The coloring page and other details you can add to your cupcakes are found here.
Another simple activity was counting sprinkles. The numbered cupcakes can be laminated and cut out individually as well.
The real fun was had when we got our hands a bit messy. Water beads were mixed with shaving cream to create a fluffy 'cupcake'.
We also scooped kinetic sand into a cupcake tin and decorated with gems.
Lastly, Miss Jaimie made a batch of homemade puffy paint to create our own cupcake art to take home. The recipe was very simple and allowed for four different colors of paint.
These are really great activities for children's motor skills and creativity and can easily be replicated at home. Let us know in the Children's Room if you make any of these and we hope to see you at a program soon!
